Small Tubs Come Of Age
If you ask most people want is the hallmark of a luxurious bathroom they will probably tell you that it is a very large bathtub sitting in the center of a grand space. Dreams apart, this is a possible scenario, but only one for people who have a large amount of money and a large amount of space to play with when it comes to that bathroom design. However, for those who have average sized bathrooms, or the usual small bathrooms found in the modern-day apartment, there is no need to think that they do not have the option of ever having a bathtub that will give them a really nice bathing experience. The answer lies in the range of small tubs that are now on the market place, bathtubs which, as the name implies, are smaller than the average bathtub, but which make up for it with extra depth, enabling the bather to sink into hot water to a depth that would be unthinkable with a standard sized bathtub.
So what kind of small tubs are available on today's marketplace? The good news is that there are so many different types it is almost impossible to name them all, and this means that it is almost certain you will be able to find one to suit your bathroom design in the space that you have available. One of the main design influences on modern bathroom fittings has been the Japanese small tub, and which has made the Japanese soaking tub a very popular tub of choice for the modern-day bathroom. It is not essential that your small tub has a Japanese flavor to it, only that you realize the design elements within it. Modern small tubs can fit in with any type of bathroom design and are now much cheaper than they ever were before, maybe due to the use of modern-day materials such as acrylic and fiberglass.
And when it comes to the shape of a small tub you are spoiled for choice in this regard as well, with the shapes available ranging from square small tubs, through oblongs and even circular. This means that whether your bathroom is in a traditional design or a contemporary design there is a type of small tub to fit the design elements that you have chosen. The great thing about a square small tub is that you can fit it in the corner of the room, which means you can free up much more space in the bathroom for other bathroom furniture such as a pedestal washbasin and toilet. Talking of pedestals, it is now possible to have a small tub that actually fits on a pedestal, by which is meant a small stage. If your bathroom is very small you will not want to have this in the center of the bathroom as it will use up too much space, but here again you could fit a small tub into the corner of the room on a stone pedestal and get a really nice design element without taking up too much space at all.
Small tubs are available in freestanding styles, and these are often small soaking tubs, which can make a really great design impact. However you do need to think about the amount of space they use, especially if you go for an old-fashioned small claw foot bathtub. In many cases it is better to look at a corner bathtub when you're looking at a tub that is on the small size, since in this way you will be able to save space, and that is pretty much the name of the game. Take time to look at all the various small tubs that are available in today's marketplace, and do as much research as you possibly can into the various design styles that are available to you. By doing this you are sure to find one that will fit in with your design and will free up space to make your bathroom feel like it is twice the size that it actually is.
